Pianist Cliff Korman has released Urban Tracks with his trio.

This album has a delightful mix of classic and modern jazz, Brazilian and straight-ahead jazz. In the first hour you'll hear a beautiful melody written by Brazilian artist Tonino Horta. 

In the second hour you'll hear Benny Golson's Whisper Not. In the third and final hour, you'll hear another fine Brazilian number by unsung Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali.

The CD was recorded in Brooklyn New York at Bunker Studio, and Mr. Korman used their 1896 Steinway C Grand Piano.  Harvie S accompanied on bass and Rafael Barata on drums, both more than competent.

The Sunday Jazz Brunch Presents Gabriel Espinosa: From Yucatán to Tarrytown Air Date: 7/7/2024 on 90.5 WICN 8am-12pm ET I'm impressed with the lineup of artists appearing at Mark Morganelli's Jazz Forum in Tarrytown, New York. Recently Gabriel Espinosa performed with his superb band. In the photo above, we see Mr. Espinosa feeling the bass, with drummer Graciliano Zambonin reacting to the groove of the moment. The Sunday Jazz Brunch Presents Musician's Corner: Tania Grubbs Air Date: 12/22/2024 on 90.5 WICN 8am-12pm ET LISTEN TO THE SEGMENT HERE   Vocalist Tania Grubbs has released her second album, The Sound of Love . When I looked at the song list, I was reassured and impressed upon finding Duke Ellington's Sound of Love . Her take on this song is masterful. During her Musician's Corner interview, she will talk about two songs on the new CD, Tadd Dameron's If You Could See Me Now , and an original composition entitled The Sculptor's Hands .  What I noticed about Mrs Grubbs is that she finds new ways to express standards from the Great American Songbook.
