The Sunday Jazz Brunch Presents Gabriel Espinosa: From Yucatán to Tarrytown Air Date: 7/7/2024 on 90.5 WICN 8am-12pm ET I'm impressed with the lineup of artists appearing at Mark Morganelli's Jazz Forum in Tarrytown, New York. Recently Gabriel Espinosa performed with his superb band. In the photo above, we see Mr. Espinosa feeling the bass, with drummer Graciliano Zambonin reacting to the groove of the moment. Misha Tsiganov Also featured in the group was the very talented Misha Tsiganov on piano, as well as Aviana Gedler vocals and violin, and Alexandra Ridout trumpet and flugelhorn. Aviana Gedler Alexandra Ridout Not only was the music simply great to listen and groove to, but Mr. Espinosa's talk about the songs made it very interesting. There was music from Brazil, as well as music from Mr. Espinosa's home, Yucatán Mexico. I suppose it is obvious, but just to be clear, my list represents the best from this group , and excludes CDs that we didn't receive, of which I am sure there are many. The Sunday Jazz Brunch Presents Musician's Corner: Paul Ricci Air Date: 12/24/2023 on 90.5 WICN 8am-12pm ET LISTEN TO THE SEGMENT HERE There's a scene in one of my favorite sci-fi flicks , Forbidden Planet, where the ship's doctor tries to use the ancient Krell teaching device designed for Krell children. "My mind has been expanded, it's up there in lights..." he says, or something to that effect, and then he dies from being fed too much information for his little human brain.  Well, I went too far just then describing one of my favorite movie scenes, and all to explain a little bit about how you will feel once you have finished listening to Paul Ricci talk about a couple of songs from Mafalda Minnozzi's new CD Natural Impression . Your mind will be expanded, and it will be up there in lights as you listen to the songs that Paul explains.
